Why this role matters
Our network of over 400 medication dispensing robots sits at the heart of pharmacy operations right across New Zealand — reducing errors, speeding up dispensing, and making sure patients get the medicines they need, every time. As our Automation Technician, you keep that network running. You're the expert our customers count on when something goes wrong, and the professional who ensures every installation goes right from day one.
What you'll do
Install, commission and maintain medication dispensing robots (hardware and software) at pharmacy sites nationwide.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues — both remotely and on-site — covering mechanical, electrical and software faults.
Deliver device training to pharmacy customers, building their confidence and competence with the equipment.
Build strong ongoing relationships with customers, responding promptly to their needs and keeping them informed.
Travel nationally to support routine maintenance, urgent call-outs, upgrades and planned installations (approx. 5–7 days/month).
Participate in occasional overseas training sessions, supplier visits and industry conferences.
What you'll bring
Technical know-how – Proven experience as an automation or field service technician with a background in mechanical maintenance, electrical systems (including PCB handling and multimeter diagnostics) and software environments (SQL, networking, Windows OS, bespoke systems).
Qualifications – A trade or degree qualification in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred. Computer or Software Systems qualifications are a bonus.
Problem-solving ability – You dig into faults methodically and find efficient, lasting solutions — under pressure if needed.
Customer focus – You're comfortable being the face of the team with pharmacy customers — professional, responsive and relationship-oriented.
Communication skills – You explain technical issues clearly to non-technical audiences and work confidently across all levels of a customer's organisation.
Flexibility to travel – You're comfortable with regular domestic travel and the occasional trip offshore.
Why join us?
Career growth – We are big on developing our people and promoting from within.
Extra leave – After six years with us, you will get five weeks of annual leave.
Parental perks – 16 weeks of top-up payments during your parental leave.
Security matters – Life and income protection insurance included.
Exclusive discounts – Special deals on brands like Clinicians, BraveFace, Bio Oil, Avene, Ego and more.
